The SANICORKS production Process:

The process which made possible production of the SANICORKS , is the result of continuous research and improvement of an integrated process, which had itsystecode_logo.pngs beginning on year 2000 with the implementation of the SYSTECODE (ICCP), making possible the traceability of the product, with identification of his origin and its entire production process until the stopper became ready for the wine bottle.

This process already contains a careful selection of raw materials, eliminating the problematic cork-wood boards to produce only the good ones.

tca.pngAfter these procedures it has been possible to reduce the problems caused by the usually known "cork taste" by the emergence of the TCA (2,4,6 – Trichoroanisol).

In Stage 2, and more recently, the Company has developed a chemical compound added in the process of cooking the corkwood, which prevents the formation of harmful moulds, during the ripening of the corkwood, making them clean and deodorized which allowed to present corks with sensorial results better than before.

In Stage 3, and after production of the corks, the Company has developed and recently finished, the process SANICORKS, which reduces potential contamination caused by TCA to levels hardly perceptible by man, and in many cases with total elimination.

This disinfection is based on the application of ethanol combined with a number of other chemicals approved by the FDA rules, being therefore none of them harmful to wine.

Only after this careful process of manufacture and disinfection of our cork stoppers we start their washing with peroxide and their finishing with the coloration requested by customers.

Then corks went in the process of ink printing, surface treatment based on paraffin and silicone emulsions, and packed in plastic bags subjected to vacuum and sterilized with SO2 (sulphur dioxide). The final package can be in cardboard boxes or bags of raffia in palette or not.

Conclusion…

This process reduces in high level the degree of contamination caused by TCA in the natural cork stoppers.

This process can be used in all kind of natural corks and natural filled (colmated).

This process also removes other flavours undesirable, possibly present in the corks, showing excellent sensory values.

The use of these chemical compounds, including ethanol in corks is not harmful to wine.
